CHILDREN'S SERVICES

A variety of services are provided or funded by the Belmont County Board of Developmental Disabilities for infants, toddlers and children.

Developmental services for children ages birth through two years of age, who have a developmental disability or delay, are offered through the Early Intervention program. EI is part of the Help Me Grow system of services.

Early Intervention services are family-centered, community-based and
responsive to the interests, priorities and needs of the family.

The School of Hope is an educational option for parents of preschool (ages 3-5) and school-age children (ages 6-22 years) with disabilities. It provides a functional curriculum focused on identifying each child’s abilities and building upon them.

For families who choose to enroll their children with disabilities into their home school district, the Board may offer other types of support to them.

Services by community-based organizations are also housed in the Board’s facility located at 330 Fox-Shannon Place, St. Clairsville. Easter Seals and its physician and speech pathologist see patients and families one day a week in the clinic. The Community Action Commission’s Head Start and Help Me Grow programs also utilize classrooms and the gymnasium for integrated activities with children and families.
