SPECIAL OLYMPICS
The Special Olympics program is funded by the Belmont County Board of Developmental Disabilities, which contracts with private providers for coaching and other duties. Adults with developmental disabilities, who live at home with family or in a non-licensed community residential setting, are eligible to participate in bowling, basketball, and track and field. The Belmont Eagles Invitational is an annual track meet that spotlights the talents of Special Olympic track and field athletes from schools and organizations across the Ohio Valley. Two dozen major sponsors and partners make this event one of the most respected in the area.
